The Consumer Research and Strategy Planning Senior Manager is responsible for driving business and brand strategies through consumer insights and data analysis.
This position serves as a key link between global and Japan teams, ensuring that research frameworks and analytical tools are effectively localized and utilized to identify growth opportunities in the domestic market.
The role collaborates closely with Marketing, Sales, RGM, and Finance to translate insights into actionable strategies that enhance business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement research and insight strategies integrating consumer, shopper, and market perspectives.
- Localize and deploy global research tools and frameworks to meet Japan market needs.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive data-based decision-making and business planning.
- Lead research initiatives for innovation, pricing, and portfolio strategy.
- Manage and develop a team of analysts and insight specialists.
- Oversee relationships with external research agencies and data vendors.
- Monitor brand, category, and channel KPIs to identify actionable opportunities.
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports that support real-time business decisions.
- 7+ years of experience in consumer insights, analytics, or market research within FMCG or consumer goods industries.
- Proven ability to apply global frameworks effectively in local markets.
- Experience in leading teams and managing cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong understanding of syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, Kantar, Intage, GfK).
- Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese.
- Strong commercial mindset, connecting insights to strategic and financial outcomes.
