The client is a TSE listed company based in Kanagawa prefecture, now a member of a foreign company group.
Valeo, the French automobile parts company became the client's parent company since 2017.

• You will manage and keep regional management and the Group General Counsel and General Secretary informed of legal issues impacting the region.
• You will manage a team of attorneys responsible for all legal functions of the region.
• You will manage corporate record keeping and governance at the regional level. You will act as Secretary of the Board of Directors of Ichikoh and will ensure compliance with all corporate governance rules and Tokyo stock exchange requirements.
• You will advise and counsel senior management on legal issues including the purchase and sale of goods and services, real estate, labor and employment, regulatory matters and litigation.
• You will be responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide-variety of transactional documents, including purchasing and sales terms and conditions, development agreements, and software and other technology licenses.
• You will manage outside counsel relationships, budgeting and spending with an emphasis on obtaining high quality legal services at a competitive cost.
• You will ensure that the Group’s legal policies and procedures are respected throughout your region.
• You will develop and communicate legal policies and internal procedures, as necessary.
• You will ensure corporate files are properly maintained.
• You will ensure that the Group’s compliance rules and policies are applied and complied with.

Qualification in Japan or US/UK/AUS preferred, but can also consider applicants with a law degree from a university in Japan.

Fluency in Japanese and English.

Willing to commute between Yoyogi (Tokyo) and Isehara (Kanagawa) 4 days per week.
