Assistant Vice President – IT Resiliency
About the Role

A leading global financial services organization is seeking an accomplished Assistant Vice President (AVP) of IT Resiliency to strengthen the stability, continuity, and incident responsiveness of its Japan technology operations. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in complex environments and can drive operational excellence across diverse IT teams.

What You’ll Do

Lead core IT Service Management functions, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.

Oversee Major Incident Management, ensuring swift recovery and clear communication with senior leaders and business stakeholders.

Enhance the resiliency of systems and services by developing and maintaining disaster recovery and technical recovery frameworks.

Partner with business units to align IT services with organizational priorities and risk posture.

Collaborate across application, infrastructure, security, and data teams to ensure end-to-end service reliability.

Plan and execute disaster recovery exercises, track outcomes, and drive continuous improvements in data resilience.

Establish robust backup and recovery standards, ensuring data integrity and availability.

Identify and implement ongoing improvements to ITSM processes to raise efficiency, service quality, and resiliency.

Prepare and present clear reports and updates on ITSM and resiliency performance to senior leaders.

Build and mentor a high-performing team that excels under pressure and fosters continuous learning.

What You Bring

5+ years’ experience in IT resiliency, disaster recovery, business continuity, or related disciplines within a large enterprise (financial services preferred).

Hands-on expertise in ITSM, including incident, problem, and change management.

Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences.

Proven ability to lead during critical incidents and manage competing priorities with composure.

Experience building and developing high-performing technical teams.

Strong analytical abilities, including root-cause analysis and developing long-term solutions.

Knowledge of cloud technology and modern backup/DR solutions (AWS/Azure exposure a plus).

Familiarity with regulatory requirements in Japan’s financial services sector is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

ITIL certification

Experience defining and managing RTO/RPO for mission-critical systems

Hands-on cloud operations experience

Japanese fluency
