Vice President – Core Platforms & Enterprise Systems (Japan)
Role Overview
A global financial services organization is appointing a senior technology leader to own the strategy, delivery, and evolution of core enterprise platforms supporting revenue-generating products and internal operations in Japan.
This role sits at the intersection of platform modernization, large-scale delivery, and executive stakeholder leadership, with accountability for both business outcomes and technology resilience. You will lead critical systems that underpin product launches, operational continuity, and long-term digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Set the long-term vision and execution strategy for core transaction and enterprise platforms
Own delivery and operational performance across legacy and modern technology stacks
Lead large, distributed engineering and delivery teams across internal and partner resources
Drive platform simplification and modernization to improve speed, stability, and cost efficiency
Ensure systems are secure, resilient, and scalable under continuous business change
Partner with senior business leaders to convert strategy into executable technology programs
Govern a complex portfolio of initiatives across multiple delivery models
Manage key technology vendors, managed services, and SaaS partners
Build a strong engineering culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
Own financial planning, capacity management, and delivery outcomes for the platform portfolio
Experience & Background
Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field or equivalent professional experience
18–25+ years in enterprise technology, including senior leadership roles
Extensive experience leading mission-critical platforms in large, regulated environments
Proven success modernizing legacy systems while maintaining operational stability
Strong understanding of cloud platforms, agile delivery, and DevOps operating models
Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale delivery through internal and external teams
Executive-level communication and stakeholder influence skills
Business-level fluency in English and Japanese
Track record of building and retaining high-performing, diverse technology teams
