A leading global financial institution is seeking a Deal Sourcing professional (VP level or below) to join its established strategic investment and credit investment business, which has a strong track record in the Japanese market.

The team invests in and trades a broad range of credit-related products, including distressed and restructured credits, real estate-related credit, non-performing loan portfolios, special situation financing, and high-yield instruments.

With expanding investment opportunities in Japan, the team is looking for an experienced professional with deep knowledge of the Japanese banking industry to work alongside a highly experienced global team and further grow its business in Japan.

The role will focus primarily on sourcing distressed loan opportunities from Japanese bank clients, while also supporting the investment analyst team in areas such as asset management, including direct engagement with key stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities and Tasks:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
・Developing and maintaining long term relationships, including senior level relationships, with key Japanese bank clients to originate deal opportunities
・Ensuring appropriate credit oversight to support effective sourcing activities and strategy development
・Identifying attractive credit investment opportunities in close collaboration with the Investment Analyst team
・Working closely with external loan servicers to execute acquisitions and manage non performing loan portfolio assets

・Minimum 7 years of experience in the Japanese banking industry, financial advisory firms, and/or credit investment companies or funds
・Strong ability to identify attractive investment and financing opportunities
・Native level Japanese and business level English proficiency
・Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field
・Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions
・Strong work ethic and the ability to work seamlessly with diverse stakeholders, including Traders, Investment Analysts, Senior Deal Sourcing Staff, Legal, and Operations teams
